Fivemind Reeds was formed in 2021 by Alexander Lee, Darren Liou, Kristine Llanderal, Matthew Rasmussen, and Thacher Schreiber.  They have since performed throughout Los Angeles and the United States, including at the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival and Interlochen Public Radio’s Sound Garden Project, for which they have served as ensemble in residence since 2023.

The quintet maintains a colorful and diverse repertoire, spanning masterworks by Mozart to cutting-edge contemporary works by Fujikura.  Fivemind also actively collaborates with several other contemporary composers through both commissions and their annual Call for Scores.

Fivemind’s interests lie in bridging the gap between classical and contemporary music, and promoting diversity and equity in the arts through community engagement, expansion of the reed quintet’s repertoire, and revitalization of the age-old traditions of chamber music.

Fivemind Reeds is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Los Angeles, California.
